Relocating to the Netherlands
If you have clicked on this article it doesn’t take a genius to figure out you have, or currently are considering relocating to the Netherlands. Which to me sounds like quite a good idea. The Netherlands has yet again secured the top 5 position of the world’s happiest countries. From thriving tech to energy industries, the Netherlands is an attractive location for any professional looking for an exciting change. However, acquiring visas and work permits for an unfamiliar country can be a very daunting process, especially when there are so many other things to consider and organise when relocating. Not to worry though, by working with Leap29 BV we can support you throughout the process – so you can put your worries to rest and concentrate on the things that matter most!
Understanding the requirements in the Netherlands
There are a few requirements that need to be understood before applying for a permit. Firstly, if you are an EU national, no permit is required to stay or work in the Netherlands, you only need to register your presence with the local authorities (which Leap 29 Bv can support). If you are not an EU national, you need a visa, residency permit and work permit to be eligible to work in the country, all of which Leap29 BV will acquire.
Applying for the Permits in the Netherlands
Leap29 BV will handle the application process for you, using our experience to make it as smooth and swift as possible. After providing the necessary documents upon request (passport etc), we will start the application process for you. You will however, need to apply for healthcare insurance to be eligible to access the Dutch healthcare system. There is a legal requirement in the Netherlands for employers to provide a basic healthcare package to employees, which our Dutch branch Leap29 BV will do. The application process can take up to three months if you apply directly to the IND. Leap29 can fast track this process to two weeks as we are registered with the IND.
Highly skilled migrant permit in the Netherlands
There are a number of different work permits you can enter the Netherlands with. Leap 29 BV mainly focus on highly skilled migrant permits. Again, we are happy to discuss the process in more detail as requirements arise. This scheme was put in place to allow talented non-EU nationals to migrate to the Netherlands and contribute to their industries.
- Valuable experience or skills that are not abundant already in the Netherlands.
- A Bachelor’s degree (minimum).
- Some relevant work experience specialized to a certain degree.
The application must also satisfy the minimum salary requirements put in place for highly skilled migrants. The minimum salaries are dependent on age, which we are happy to discuss on an individual basis.
Upon arrival in the Netherlands
This final step is relevant for both EU nationals and knowledge migrants. Within the first five days you will need to visit your local town hall to register with the personal records database, Leap29 BV will expedite this process. In doing this you will receive a BSN or citizen service number, this number is vital for any dealings with the Dutch government, for example, paying taxes, opening a bank account, or even using their healthcare system.
