- Employers must provide a written employment contract if employment is due to last longer than 4 weeks
- Employees must not work more than 40 hours per week over a 12 month period or more than a 9 hour day
- Employees must have at least 12 hours between shifts
- As of January 2020 employees must be paid the minimum monthly wage of €1,108
- Overtime is capped at 80 hours per year
On top of employment laws outlined in the Worker Statute employees working in Spain may also be required to obtain a work visa. While workers in EU countries are free to work in Spain without a visa, non-EU workers will need to obtain a work visa that varies depending on the type and length of their employment.
